What if, indeed. After studying the matter, Ms. Davidson concluded, “Online blogs directed at peers exhibit fewer typographical and factual errors, less plagiarism, and generally better, more elegant and persuasive prose than classroom assignments by the same writers.”
Response:
According to Ms. Davidson, teaching children to blog in the classroom for class would be a more efficient way to get the students original ideas. She is absolutely correct because children are more interested in new technology. They will not ask other students for help if they have the "cool" technology to use. They would want to explore on the internet and find their own sources to use instead of students using the same ideas in papers like they would do now. It is becoming this way in our time and age. If you make college students like us write a paper, we are going to talk to other students and see what exactly the teacher is looking for. When we get to use the technology given to us we use our own ideas because it's something new.

This source explains the reasons why technology has been integrated into the classroom and why it is so important. The reasons that they give are all great reasons for technology to be integrated. It makes learning that much more fun. And I 100% agree with the teachers.

Kelsy,
ReplyDeleteYour blog format is perfect and visually attractive! I agree with your comment that when students are given technology tools that they become creative, explore new ideas and are more aware that others are reading their work. When using bibme or another citation tool, sometimes you have to insert the author, the author of Education Needs an Upgrade is Virginia Heffener. Sometimes they will insert a "generic name" that you have to delete.
Kelsey,
ReplyDeleteI agree with every thing you have said. Students do talk to one another when a paper is assigned. This could cause all the papers to look the same and seem like people copied one another. If using technology for their sources it would give a more wide variety of papers, because its not all the same source.
I really liked your opinion on this article. Younger students love interacting with newer technology. When you do ingage education with technology it makes learning a fun and new way to interact with other students.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of technology being so largely integrated into the classroom is a conflicting thought for me. However, it is true that technology allows for original ideas and discovery of new techniques. I completely agree with the fact that students tend to discuss papers and that technology can be a great benefit to our education.
